Derrick Morgan

I want my life to be an example to help some young person from living this life, because you know, this is not the life to live.
I have a lot to say about the prison life, because they is selling society a lot of B.S. and that is not to say that prison is not dangerous in prison, because it is, but now here in Illinois it is not the prisoners you have to worry about that is going to kill you, it is the people that is in charce of taking care of you and the go from the hospital staff and the bones, that they get if they can get away with not treating us for something, like me I a diabetic type two, and I should have my sugar moderator every day, but I only get my sugar moderator every three months.

And anyone with diabetic knows that a lot can go wrong with the body in that time, and you won't even know it untill it is too late, and they get away with it, because I don't know what to do, I have asked them about it, but they tell me that I don't need my sugar moderator every day and I know it is nt right. I don't have the help or the support from the outside world and I know that you say, don't you haave family and yes i do, but they don't understand the help that I need in this place, and I try to tell them, but they, feel the people is right in what they do, because they say it get to be right if they is doing it, but the prison in the state of Illinois don'thave anyone that check and see if they is doing what they is suppose to be doing by the prison, you would believe this, but we is on lock down 7 months out of the year, and you would think that it is prisoners run wild, but that isn't the case, they lock us down for a month at a time just because two men get into a fight, and when they put us on lock down like we is right now, all our meals is cold, and you would think they would give a diabetic a special diet.. no.. wrong.. they say that we can eat what everyone else and everyone know that have any sense, know that you have to change your diet, and if there is anyone out there that feel they can help, it would be nice if you let me know what I can do, because I don't know what to do right now.

The cells that we live in is a joke.

They allow us to have a TV, Radio, but we don't have any desks in our cells to put our things on, so we have to put them in our bed, and that is so uncomfortable, because you have to sleep with them.
Now I know that you might say how they get away with it because everyone that you can complain already know what is going on and they don't care, but make no mistake about it.
They know that we don't have anywhere to put our stuff on, but we do have two boxes that they give to us, to put our property in, and they want everything we own to be in those boxes.
It is not easy to live out of a box when you have been on lock down for 23 years, because you is going to have a lot more than someone that just get locked up.
That is they way of not letting you keep a lot of the things that you have,
because when you don't have room for it, you have to give it away or send it home, at your expense.

I have been in prison for 23 years, and I spent 6 of them on death row.
You would think that we would have progras to help rehabilitate the prisoners, but they don't have anything for the prisoners here, they have a GED program but only for 25 prisoners at one time, and once you get your GED it is nothing else you can learn, it no more schooling for you unless you can get to a minimum security prison, where you can get more education. But you can not get there, unless you have someone from the outside world to speak for you.
You will get one shower a week.
And they think that is right, and that is nothing wrong with that, but we know that it is not right.
But if the men protest, they will twist it and say it is a gang thing and the prisoners is trying to take over the prisons and they will transfere a lot of the
men and alot of the guys have become comfortable here with this treatment.
